MTR® P pillar

Structural innovation for high-performance construction

MTR® P pillar

Steel-concrete composite section column, known as CFT (Concrete Filled Tube), characterized by high level structural performance.

The MTR® P column realizes the technological evolution of prefabricated framed structural systems.

Its cross-section, identified by the acronym CFT(Concrete FilledSteel Tube), is made from a concrete-filled steel tube with possible reinforcement reinforcement and is capable of high-level structural performance.

The MTR® P column is highly more performing than any other existing column construction type
. In fact, this construction solution superimposes on the bearing capacity of the steel tubular
that of the reinforced concrete section and also realizes the improved effects that, in this specific
configuration, concrete and steel are able to exchange. The fill concrete
elevates the stability of the steel hollow section by receiving in return a confining action that raises
its compressive strength.
Result: slender columns with high performance.

Characteristics of the MTR® P abutment

Metal structure
Made of steel from steelwork S235 - S275 - S355 complying with UNI EN ISO 10025-2.

Concrete of the completion casting
C28/35 - C35/40 - C40/45 - C45/50

Internal reinforcement
Steel B450C - up to 6% of the area of the concrete section.

Cross section
Square, rectangular or circular (double axis of symmetry).

Welding
Continuous wire under shielding gas (Process UNI EN ISO 4063-135) according to current NTC 2018.

Mechanical resistance to fire

R60/90/120 due to the internal concrete mass with B450C reinforcement up to 6% Ac.

Confined nodes

The MTR® P abutment does not require beams for node confinement; the tubular steel plate performs this function, ensuring complete confinement of the structure's nodes.

Support systems and structural nodes

The MTR® P abutment does not require the presence of the beams to realize confinement of its nodes because the steel plate of the tubular effectively makes up for this absence so the use of the MTR® P abutment realizes complete confinement of the nodes of the structural system in which it fits.

Beam-to-beam connection

The column is prefabricated on the shop floor into multi-stretch modular components, the individual elements of which are accompanied by steel support systems located at the top end where the MTR® beams rest in the initial stage of construction, allowing for quick and accurate assembly of the entire structure.
